INFESTATION in miami
Topic: bug off

If ever in Miami's financial district  Brickell Ave to be exact, definitely do not stay at the J W MARRIOTT -- the entire hotel is a third world country..  i'm not being racist, until u go to florida u wont understand why the americanos who speak engrish want it to be engrish spoken as official lingo in america..becuz all who dont speak espanol will lose all rights.. and be DISCRIMINATED against.    in seattle we are lucky that the Asians are plentiful but out there, u are a target for discrimination and deceit.

Polish and the Spanish speaking folks do not welcome Asians into their America.

Convention center workers were ANTI ASIAN!!!   boycot FLORIDA and the

MiAMI convention center and the MARRIOTT chain. now.

Viewing the Cosmos
Mood:  lucky
Topic: spiritual quest

walking along the path in near darkness with the sounds of random scurrying and tweeting bats above we came upon some people who invited us to view the moon.  it was a group of Sidewalk Astronomers, 2 telescopes and 4 people.  Paul ( works for Alaska Airlines-ticket-customer service) the guy who let us view the moon, MADE his telescope from scratch with supplies purchased at Boeing Surplus. he was'specially proud of his titanium barrel that took 7hrs to polish. (it was super shiny)  I peeked in the scope a couple of times with my own eyeballs and 15 times with my friend's digital camera.  Stay tuned to view some spectacular MOON photos, it was a truly amazing night at Greenlake.

amazing Rudeness
Mood:  don't ask

One saturday morning after a full night of clutter-reduction, we happened upon Geraldine's in columbia city   (a Cheryl Chow recommendation-so we checked it out).  It was one of those odd surreal moments where u walk into a restaurant and all the customers are white and they all stop what they're doing and loook at u --as if u were a Martian or someting.

Geraldine's is in the heart of the gentrified zone of 2 blocks of businesses on Rainier Ave ending at So. Hudson St.--beginning at the Bank of America.  U'd think that if a new business is located in the heart of a multicultural neighbor hood, the eaters would be a little more civilized.

The highpoint of the morning was a black and white dog that was tied to the bike rack outside.

Our server, "Joe" had a personality lesser than a rock. at the end of our meal he flicked the $1 coupons at our table, not explaining what they were.  Everyone else he served, had an obviously better eating experience.

As we were setting off for a new adventure, we witnessed a Black BMW slam into my friend's car, the guilty beemer's owner exclaimed " i cant parallel park" and ran into her comfort zone of Geraldine's. HIT AND RUN.. i still have her license number-

Aono Jikken and Swords
Mood:  sharp
Topic: Aono Jikken
AJE whipped up the stagnant air in the theater with some mighty blows of the shakuhachi accompanied by blasts of taiko followed by an undercurrent of sassy string work & haunting vocals.

The imagery from The Sword of Doom, Throne of Blood,
and others --the soundscape was SOLID, it was really EFFECTIVE-- the hair on the back of my head and arms stood up and goosebumps followed. They really did a great job. i wish the AJE could actually score Sword of Doom..sometime.

It's too bad it wasnt advertised better- people really missed out on a great evening.

Summer of Samurai...and windbags
Mood:  lyrical
Topic: spiritual quest
Tonite was a panel about the history of cinema in the Japanese American (nikkei) community featuring Terry Nakano who once owned and ran a theater that featured 'chambara' samurai classics and not so classics. He mentioned that some were of a 'soft-core' nature. Also on the panel was prof. Steve Sumida (american ethnic studies and asian american studies) and Bill Blauvelt (filmmaker, and director of Aono Jikken Ensemble).

the discussion was interesting, but the the most comical stories came from Terry Nakano. The MOST annoying part was the GUY who came with a LONG winded speech (michael kauffman) about how he cant get any funding and whining on and on for 35min..wasting everyone's time..get your own website so u can rant the day and night away.what an UNKOHEAD!!

June 9th, at Floating Leaves Teahouse in ballard. Aono Jikken Ensemble performed a medley of pieces from their shows. The warm, intimate space really enhanced the delicate spaces between their notes- there was some really weird stalker types in attendance--i was accosted by the JA one.

June 4th at the Central Cinema in the heart of the newly created 'safe' South Capitol Hill, ( the main part of the Central District that's succumbed to gentrification) thus mostly yuppie zone of white people. Do u see any people of color walkin??? i dont think so!

Anyways, the film rocked the house and Rich was his usual Mr Personality with his less than personable wifey-san ( Editor of the IE )

U can talk about me,, but NoT my Desserts!!!
Topic: Unko-Head

that Hiroki guy of Hiroki dessert place is a rude male sexist unko-head.

if u are an asian female he expects u to date him if he lets u show your art work there.

his desserts are not refridgerated at a cold enough temperature and the tiramisu and custards will give u the immediate runs and there is only one bathroom and it's pretty dirty...  i guess the health dept hasnt got there yet.
