can u take woodcarving tools on the airplane or if u check them in your baggage, will they be removed?

did u know the seppuku sword has a curved point, it curves inwards to cleanly--u get the drift... there was a short docu on it on nhk.

i have the ability to watch images flash by at incredible speed and stop the FF to the exact point of interesting stuff--must be a bit of clairvoyancy happening. won 3, 1iter bottles of Coke with the bottlecap game so far. i'm 3 out of 4, this month.

I made it, like in 1994? Peter Ross taught a small group of people, i had to accompany my nephew Daniel, cuz my sister hates to do crafts. After the making of it, Peter tested everyone's finished works, they were all playable. I was able to play the scale then..now, is a different story- i can barely get a sound out of it, did my teeth shift and affect the airflow? or are my fingers too small to fully cover the holes? or is my dogbite finger throwing my whole right hand off? too many variables affecting my ability to blow on it and make it sound like it is supposed to.

I had to ask The Fue-Master of AJE for some blowing tips, she referred me to The Koto-Master of AJE whose tips helped alot too--made a world of difference.

Kirkland Art Walk
Mood:  mischievious
Topic: Arty-Crafty
While i waited for the Tacoma Crew to meetup in Downtown Seattle, i wandered the streets for interesting night shots. This year the street lights are brighter and i didnt get harrassed by any psychopaths or cops. Which buildings are offlimits to people with cameras? Remember when the photo student got arrested for taking photos at the govt locks? that is a tourist thing to do...any tourists get arrested this year?

The Kirkland Art Walk was truly disappointing, where did all the upscale galleries go? no glass or photography. there was a happenin' cool designy furniture shop with cool neons..we ended up crashing on their sofas to warm up a bit. It was really cold out. The marina made up for the lack of art. it was too cold to make the trek to the Kirkland Art Center this time. high priced cardboard painted silver and gold at one gallery--$4000. for that, i made one in 4th grade.

We were running on caramel dipped, chocolate covered oreo crumbs over a dense marshmallow. see photo.

Dragons
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: Arty-Crafty
spring, i'm taking a sumi-e painting class thru Nikkei Concerns, my teacher is Midori Thiel. I have all the equipment, but never really learned how to correctly use it. Just getting the point of the brush to start the line and end the line is the hardest part. its quite the meditative , concentration kind of experience- with lots of Kata involved.

not enuff time in the class to fully learn anything, u really have to be self motivated. i really cant draw under pressure with hovering people. i do my best work alone at nite/early mornings.

this is from the last 2 weeks of class, assignment of
dragons. u have to start with the eyes, as they set the personality of your dragon.

here is Dragon #18

Woodcarving with cheapo tools
Mood:  bright
Topic: Arty-Crafty
Kibori, the art of woodcarving-japanese style. I am carving with the $10 Niji tool set, they are very sharp and well made, the other low cost brands are too flimsy and dull, i've bought them and are stuck with them. the teacher really has a language problem, cant speak enuff english to coherently TEACH this class and she ignores the student with the lisp caused by his hearing problem..and refuses to speak nihongo to the japanese lady in the class-- how the hell she got to teach this class is beyond me...

So i went to the library and checked out woodcarving books and read a bunch of websites, and got zapped with lightning, which inspired me to create this piece. Based on a dragon, lightning, and stormy weather.
